LAS VEGAS - DePaul's Gina Ramacci hita two-RBI triple and set up the winning run as 15th-ranked DePaul defeated the UNLV softball team, 3-2, at Eller Media Stadium on Saturday.
UNLV (9-7) took a 2-0 lead in the game in the top of the fourth when first baseman Kacey Ellis drove a two-RBI single to centerfield. The Blue Demons (6-1) responded immediately, using a leadoff single and walk in the bottom of the inning to set up Ramacci's heroics.
Ashley Parker pinch ran for Ramacci after the triple and scored the go-ahead run on the next play before the Rebels escaped the inning with a double play.
Senior hurler Geney Orris (3-2) allowed just six hits in the loss and struck out five. Lindsay Chouinard, who won the Demons' tourney opener against Pacific, 2-0, saved the victory for April Valdez (2-0).
The final day of play in the Rebels' mini-tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday at Eller Media Stadium. Pacific will play DePaul at 10:00, with the UNLV-DePaul matchup slated for 12:30 and a UNLV-Pacific encounter scheduled for 3:00.
