LAS VEGAS - Eighteen members of the UNLV women's indoor track and field team will be in competition this weekend as the Rebels are set to send squads to both the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle and the Bill Cosby Invitational in Reno.
Twelve Rebels will be in action at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle, where UNLV will look to improve on last week's fifth-place finish at the Wolf Pack Invitational. Last weekend, junior Tianika Sharrieff (Euless, Texas) posted a mark of 1.68m (5'06.00) in the high jump to finish in a tie for second place and senior sprinter Michele Davis (Lansing, Mich.) has Mountain West Conference best times in the 60 meter, 200 meter and 400 meter dash events.
In addition to host Washington, the Rebels are set to square off against teams from the University of Hawai'i, Cal Poly SLO, UC Davis, Portland, Sacramento State, Occidental College, Western Oregon, UC Irvine, Oregon, and Cal State-Northridge.
Pole vaulter Michele Muscato (Henderson, Nev.) will look to lead a contingent of Rebel underclassmen as they head to Reno to compete in the Bill Cosby Invitational. The Rebels will face squads from intrastate rival Nevada, Reno, Fresno State, Humboldt State, San Francisco State, UC Davis, Cal State Stanislaus and California.
The University of Washington Invitational will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Dempsey Indoor Facility starting at 9 a.m.
The Bill Cosby Invitational will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Reno Livestock Events Center, with field events beginning at 8:30 a.m. and running events scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m.
