LAS VEGAS (AP) - Vince Booker sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift UNLV to a 73-70 win over BYU on Saturday.
Booker's winning basket from the right corner came on an assist from Marcus Banks. Also for UNLV (12-8, 4-4 Mountain West), Lou Kelly scored 22 points, 17 in the first half on 6-for-9 shooting. Dalron Johnson added 14 points for the Rebels, but fouled out with 3:02 remaining.
BYU (14-7, 4-4) tied the game at 70-70 on a Jerred Jensen layup with 19 seconds to play, the first time the Cougars drew even after UNLV led for 39 minutes.
Travis Hansen had 21 points and Eric Nielsen added 14 for BYU.
The Cougars cut a first-half UNLV 16-point lead to one point on four occasions in the second half, the last at 69-68 with 1:25 left after two Hansen free throws.
Then with 56 seconds left, UNLV's Omari Pearson hit one of two free throws, setting up Jensen's layup.
For the second half, BYU shot 14-for-23 from the field (61 percent), while UNLV was 11-for-29 (38 percent).
