Big Inning Fuels Husky Win

March 1, 2002

Box Score

ST. GEORGE, Utah - A three-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer by Jaime Clark, powered 12th-ranked Washington to a 3-0 victory over the UNLV softball team at the Utah Red Desert Classic on Friday.

Clark's hit broke up a no-hit bid by Rebel starter Jackie Kerrigan. The Huskies (17-7) rallied after the home run, using a pair of doubles and a sac fly to tack on the third run of the inning.

Although Kerrigan started with the hot hand, it was Washington pitcher Tia Bollinger who held command of the circle. Bollinger struck out 11 Rebels, including five straight at one point.

UNLV (9-11) was able to produce just four singles off the Husky hurler, two by sophomore Lisa Moses.

With the loss, Kerrigan drops to 2-5 on the year.

The Rebels will continue play in the Red Desert Classic on Saturday, with games against UC Santa Barbara and Eastern Kentucky at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. MST respectively.
