March 13, 2002

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team made another big jump in this week's Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wednesday.

The Lady Rebels (8-2) moved up 14 spots to No. 27 in the nation after upsetting then-No. 17 William & Mary last week. UNLV, whose only two losses came to No. 3 Stanford and No. 5 Wake Forest, began the season in January ranked 57th in the 75-team poll.

The Lady Rebels will host No. 48 Pennsylvania Thursday and No. 30 Indiana Friday. Both matches begin at 2 p.m. at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The men's team (4-5) fell 16 positions to the final spot of 75.
