Box Score

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon pitcher Connie McMurren tossed a no-hitter to cap a sweep of the Ducks' doubleheader against the UNLV softball team at Howe Field on Tuesday.

The Rebels (18-21) lost 1-0 and 5-0 to drop all three games of the season series with the Ducks.

McMurren (6-3) was impressive, striking out six and allowing five walks. Only one of the Rebels' four base runners advanced past first base when Bridget Byrne ran all the way to second on an infield error.

Oregon (18-9) used the long ball to build its lead, smacking two home runs off starter Jackie Kerrigan (7-10). The first was a solo shot by Jennifer Poore in the second inning followed by a two-run blast by Kristi Hall in the fourth.

The Rebels' luck was not much better in the opener. Despite an outstanding three-hit pitching performance from Nicole Truax (3-5), Oregon was able to string together a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly to score the game's only and deciding run.

Truax held the Ducks to just one hit through four innings before giving up a leadoff single to Oregon's Amber Hutchison. A sac bunt moved Hutchison to second, and a second single in the inning put runners at the corners. Truax intentionally walked Andrea Vidlund, loading the bases for Janell Bergstrom, whose fly out to right allowed Hutchison to score the game-winner from third.

UO's Anissa Meashintubby (7-2) gave up five hits and struck out seven in completing her third shutout of the year. Lisa Moses had the most success against her, collecting two singles in three chances.

The Rebels conclude their five-game road swing with a 1:00 p.m. game at Oregon State on Wednesday.
