Janus Makes It Four

March 27, 2002

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Paulina Janus has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season and the fourth time in her career, the league announced Wednesday.

The junior from Warsaw, Poland, also earned the honor February 5 and twice last season. Janus improved to 15-8 in singles by sweeping her three matches at the No. 1 position in the lineup. She also went 2-1 in doubles play at the top spot with Agnieszka Abram, including upsetting the nation's 28th-ranked duo from Auburn in Tuesday's 5-2 team victory over the No. 32 Tigers.

Ranked 71st in the nation, Janus has now tied Katarina Malec for the most player-of-the-week honors in a career for a Lady Rebel. Malec won four times in 2000.

UNLV will next be in action Thursday when the 15th-ranked Lady Rebels (13-2) travel to 29th-ranked San Diego State.
