LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team improved 12 spots in this week's Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wednesday.
The Lady Rebels, who take on No. 17 William & Mary later today, are now the highest ranked team from the Mountain West Conference at No. 41. Their 7-2 record includes two close losses to teams ranked in the top 10: at No. 3 Stanford and vs. No. 6 Wake Forest.
The other three league teams that were ranked in the 75-deep poll this week were No. 43 BYU, No. 48 Sand Diego State and No. 69 New Mexico.
Individually, Gyorgyi Zsiros made an even more dramatic jump in singles after improving to 15-7 overall. The freshman rose 43 spots to No. 92 in the nation.
On the men's side, the Rebels (3-2) dropped one spot to No. 59 while top singles player Thomas Schneiter dropped from 59th to 62nd despite winning three straight to improve to 10-5.
