OKLAHOMA CITY - UNLV senior designated player Geney Orris was named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-America second team, the NFCA announced on Thursday.
The honor comes on the heels of a decorated season for Orris, who earned all-conference and all-region honors earlier this month.
The Mountain West Conference's Player of the Year, Orris led the Rebels and ranked among the league leaders in most offensive statistical categories. The Brea, Calif., native hit an impressive .323 this season with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, 14 doubles and a .618 slugging percentage.
Orris also played a key role on UNLV's pitching staff, although her All-America selection was as a DP. She tied for the team lead with nine victories and notched a 2.87 ERA in nearly 115 innings pitched.
She becomes the school's sixth All-American this year, the 19th in softball history.
