Box Score

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Freshman midfielder Mark Stock (Tigard, Ore.) scored in the 100th minute to send the UNLV men's soccer team past Cal Poly, 2-1, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the University of New Mexico Tournament held at the UNM Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half, both teams looked to get on the scoreboard. In the 51st minute, Cal Poly's Scott Gellman made the unassisted play for the 1-0 lead.

Not looking to be outdone, the Rebels retreated with the game-tying goal courtesy of freshman Salvatore Wise (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), who racked up three-points in the match, off a pass from sophomore Brendon Bain (Beaverton, Ore.) at 75:36.

At the end of regulation with the score tied at 1-1, the Rebels and Mustangs would extend play into overtime. Nine minutes into the extra period, Stock netted his first collegiate goal off a double assist from Wise and senior goalkeeper Justin Dennis (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

Dennis played 100 minutes in goal with two saves, while Cal Poly goalkeeper Luis Trejo stopped three. Junior midfielder Alex Hernandez (Indio, Calif.) and sophomore defender Kristian Paananen (Espoo, Finland) were named to the TLC Plumbing and Utility All-Tournament Team.

The Rebels (3-3) will next host the UNLV / FILA Classic on Sept. 20 and 22 at Peter Johann Memorial Field. UNLV meets Hofstra on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m., while UC Riverside and Central Florida play prior to the nightcap at 5 p.m.
