ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Freshman midfielder Mark Stock (Tigard, Ore.) scored in the 100th minute to send the UNLV men's soccer team past Cal Poly, 2-1, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the University of New Mexico Tournament held at the UNM Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, both teams looked to get on the scoreboard. In the 51st minute, Cal Poly's Scott Gellman made the unassisted play for the 1-0 lead.
Not looking to be outdone, the Rebels retreated with the game-tying goal courtesy of freshman Salvatore Wise (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), who racked up three-points in the match, off a pass from sophomore Brendon Bain (Beaverton, Ore.) at 75:36.
At the end of regulation with the score tied at 1-1, the Rebels and Mustangs would extend play into overtime. Nine minutes into the extra period, Stock netted his first collegiate goal off a double assist from Wise and senior goalkeeper Justin Dennis (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
