FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Sophomore Annii Magliulo (Pengrove, Calif.) scored two crucial goals as the UNLV women's soccer team edged Northern Arizona, 3-2, Friday night at Lumberjack Stadium.
Junior Erin Egertson (Mission Viejo, Calif.) would bury a shot from the rightside of the 18-yard box for the game-opening goal at 20:11. Five minutes later, Magliulo scored off a pass from senior Cosette Packer (Henderson, Nev.) to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, Northern Arizona's Sierra Cristiano was awarded a penalty kick and successfully netted the PK at 51:25. Magliulo answered back with the eventual game-winning goal in the 66th minute unassisted. She currently leads the team in scoring with 12 points.
The Lumberjacks, attempting a comeback, scored their second goal of the night at 74:32. It would not be enough to even the score.
Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Huff (Huntington Beach, Calif.) claimed the win with four saves, while NAU's Andrea Berra made seven stops.
UNLV improves to 6-1-1 and will next travel to Pac-10 power Arizona State for a non-conference match on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. in Tempe, Ariz.
