TWO-GAME HOMESTAND AHEAD
The UNLV women's basketball team (7-4) hosts its last two non-conference opponents of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 7 versus Loyola Marymount at 7:35 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. Both games will be broadcast live in Las Vegas on KSHP 1400 AM radio and via an Internet link on unlvrebels.com with Bob Blum, the dean of West Coast broadcasters, calling play-by-play action for his 16th season with the Lady Rebels.
SCOUTING REPORT
Loyola Marymount (8-4): The Lions are currently second in the latest West Coast Conference standings with an 8-4 record and continue to receive votes in the USA TODAY / ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll. Led in the scoring column by senior Kate Murray who is averaging 15.6 ppg, LMU has played a tough schedule this season with losses to top 25 competition in UC Santa Barbara (76-63) and Arkansas (87-52).
Cal State Fullerton (3-9): The Titans are coming off a 69-33 loss to No. 22-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 4. Their three wins this season have come against Centenary, Eastern Washington and common Lady Rebel 2002-03 opponent Cal Poly, 84-76, in overtime. CSUF returns four starters to the lineup, while top returner Heather Hansen is averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
UNLV is an undefeated 4-0 in the all-time series versus Loyola Marymount. Both teams last met in the first round of the postseason WNIT Tournament during the 2000-01 season. Former Lady Rebel Kinesha Davis (1998-2002) hit two key free throws with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to give UNLV a 59-56 win over LMU in Los Angeles. Against Cal State Fullerton, UNLV holds a 31-8 all-time advantage and has won the last two meetings between the two schools.
KTUD BROADCASTS
Five UNLV women's basketball home games will be broadcast locally on KTUD channel 25 / cable 14 this season. For the third consecutive year, KTUD / UPN and Caples Productions continues its television production and coverage of Lady Rebel Basketball with Tim Neverett and Trip Mitchell calling the action courtside. A non-conference game versus Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 11) and four Mountain West Conference games against BYU (Jan. 25), Colorado State (Feb. 8), San Diego State (Feb. 15) and Air Force (March 1) will be aired on a tape delay basis.
LADY REBELS AND THE RPI
The Lady Rebels are currently rated No. 90 in the latest WBCA/Summerville RPI Index, while Loyola Marymount is rated 90 and Cal State Fullerton 239.
