FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Romain Massaro won twice Saturday to advance to Sunday's singles final in Flight B of the Bulldog Tennis Classic on the campus of Fresno State.
Massaro downed Adam Faurrle of St. Mary's College, 7-6, 6-0, in the quarterfinals and then swept Nico Terrien of Loyola Marymount 6-4, 6-4, in the semifinals to advance. He will take on Andrea Sion of St. Mary's in Sunday's final.
Also winning twice before bowing out was Marko Blagojevic. Playing in Flight C, the Rebel junior downed Dani Erricson of UNR, 7-5, 6-4, and then rallied past J.J. Whitlinger of St. Mary's 1-6, 7-5, 6-3. Blagojevic eventually fell in the semifinals to Linus Cicenas of LMUC 6-2, 6-3.
UNLV's lone remaining doubles team of Henner Nehles and Aviram Salomon won its quarterfinal match in Flight A before being eliminated in the semifinals.
