FRESNO, Calif. - UNLV sophomore Romain Massaro capped off a successful weekend Sunday by winning the Flight B championship of the Bulldog Tennis Classic on the campus of Fresno State.
Massaro downed Andrea Sion of St. Mary's College 6-2, 7-6 to win the bracket and improve to 5-0 at the event and already equal his victory total from a season ago.
Flight A singles was won by Alberto Francis of UCLA, 6-4, 6-4, over Drew Hoskins of USC. Linus Cicenus of Loyola Marymount took the Flight C crown by defeating teammate Carlos Malet 6-4, 6-0. Francis also won the Flight A doubles title as he and Bruins' partner Krzstof Kwinta outlasted Tyler Browne and Dean Wallace of Cal 8-6.
The Rebels return to fall tournament play when they host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships starting Oct. 23 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
