LAS VEGAS - More than 100 men's collegiate tennis players will compete this week at the 2003 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships to be held for the seventh consecutive year at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus.

Members from 16 western teams will face off as individuals from Wednesday through Sunday on 12 courts each day in both singles and doubles.

No less than 17 ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women are taking place over these last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. Both singles finalists and the championship doubles team at each site advance to the 2003 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan on Nov. 6-9.

Wednesday's first round, which gets under way at 8 a.m., will feature 27 singles matches and 12 doubles matches. A second round of singles will follow. There will be a consolation draw in singles beginning Thursday to ensure each entrant at least two matches.

The finals are set for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
