LAS VEGAS - UNLV received the fifth seed in the 2003 Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Championships, and will meet fourth-seeded San Diego State on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. This year's tournament is being hosted by Utah in Salt Lake City.
The opening round game for the Rebels is a rematch of their season finale, as UNLV handed the Aztecs a 1-0 loss on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Erin Egertson scored the game-winner for the Rebels on her Senior Night in the 83rd minute to give UNLV the 1-0 victory, which moved them into the fifth seed. UNLV finished the regular season at 8-9-2, and 2-4 in the conference, while San Diego State is 7-9-2, and 2-3-1 in league play.
Utah earned the top-seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season at 6-0 in the MWC, and will receive a first round bye. The other first round games on Wednesday include second seed BYU against 7th-seed Air Force at 8 a.m., and third-seed Wyoming against 6th-seeded New Mexico at 11:30 a.m..
