Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Quotes

UNLV QB Kurt Nantkes threw an interception to end the first two drives of the game, marking the first time the junior threw multiple picks in a game since tossing two at Kansas on Sept. 6 - a span of eight games.

With just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, Nantkes, who was suffering from a pulled groin, was pulled in favor of true freshman Shane Steichen, who made his college debut. Nantkes returned to the game and played the entire second half.

TE Greg Estandia blocked a SDSU 36-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter for the junior's second blocked kick of the season but first since vs. Toledo in the season opener.

The teams combined for five turnovers in the first half alone (UNLV two interceptions and one fumble & SDSU one of each).

UNLV was shut out for the 13th time in history and the first time since losing 29-0 to BYU in 1999 - Rebel head coach John Robinson's first season.

The Rebels fell to 2-3 at home this season after losing their third straight at Sam Boyd Stadium.

The game tied for the lowest scoring in school and Sam Boyd Stadium history. Missouri Southern shut out the Rebels 7-0 in 1972.

UNLV's 175 yards of offense was the lowest amount since totaling only 156 vs. Utah in 2001.

UNLV's 31 yards rushing were the lowest since getting only eight yards vs. Iowa State in 1999.

Rebel LB Adam Seward turned in 11 tackles, which moved him into second all-time at the school with 291. Seward moved past Darnell Pickens (289) and is only three short of Randy Black's career record of 294 (1997-2000).

UNLV senior WR Michael Johnson's six catches meant he has now brought in at least one reception in 30 consecutive games. Junior Earvin Johnson's five grabs moved his streak to 28 games.

UNLV threw three interceptions for the first time since tossing three vs. New Mexico on Oct. 12, 2002. Nantkes became the first Rebel QB to throw three himself since Jason Thomas tossed three at Arkansas on Aug. 30, 2001.
