Rebels Receive Third Seed In MPSF Tournament

LAS VEGAS - UNLV received the third seed in the MPSF Men's Soccer Tournament, and will open play against sixth-seeded Air Force, as the conference announced the seedings and games times on Sunday. The Rebels will play Air Force at 4:30 pm in the first game of the tournament, hosted by Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif.

The Rebels are 6-11 on the year, but finished the regular season on a two-game win streak to finish at 3-3 in conference play, good for third place in the standings. New Mexico recorded a 3-2 overtime win at San Diego State on Sunday to move into second place and earn one of the first round byes in the tournament, along with top-seeded San Jose State. The other first round match in addition to UNLV-Air Force will feature fourth-seed San Diego State and fifth-seed Sacramento State.

In their earlier meeting, UNLV posted a 2-0 victory at Air Force, on Nov. 2 in the Rebels' regular season finale. They also posted a 2-0 win at New Mexico, their semifinal opponent if they win their opening game. The Rebels were actually undefeated in conference play on the road this year at 3-0, but went 0-3 at home.

Following the Rebels' game on Thursday, SDSU and Sacramento State will play at 7 p.m. The tournament will continue with the semifinals on Friday, and the championship match is set for Sunday, Nov. 16. For information on tickets, fans can call the Sacramento State ticket office at 916-278-4590.
