LAS VEGAS - The UNLV softball team signed Brittany Freight to a national letter of intent, head coach Lonni Alameda announced Thursday.
Freight, 17, of Placentia, Calif., joins the Rebels in time to play in 2004. A two-sport star and honor student at El Dorado High School, Freight was a first-team All-Century League choice in the outfield as a senior.
"We are excited that Brittany has chosen to become a Rebel," Alameda said. "She is an incredibly hard-working student-athlete and she marks the beginning of this program's push toward the goal of the top 25."
A left-handed slap-hitter, Freight also carries a wealth of club experience into Las Vegas. Six years ago, her Under-12 team, the Invasion, won the 1997 ASA National Championship. She spent the last two seasons with the Under-18 Case Batbusters.
