PALO ALTO, Calif. - For the third straight meet, Michele Suszek was the top finisher from UNLV as she finished 47th out of 187 runners in the Stanford Cross Country Invitational, held on Saturday on the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. UNLV finished 23rd in the team competition out of 26 squads.
Suszek recorded a time of 22:54 for the 6k race, the first time this year UNLV has run a 6k event. Also running for the Rebels, Sarah Loughlin was 124th in a time of 24:41, and Erin Hammond was 141st with a time of 25:27. Rounding out the Rebels runners was Ashley Pierce, 146th at 26:05, Yolanda Chee, 151st at 26:20, and Samantha Serrano, 160th at 27:20.
UCLA won the team competition by placing all five runners in the top fifteen to earn 37 points. Stanford was second, and grabbed the top two individual spots, as Alicia Craig easily won the race in 20:25, while Teresa McWalters was runner-up at 21:07.
The team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Pre-Conference Meet hosted by San Diego State.
