PROVO, Utah - BYU's Krissa Reinbold's goal with 13 minutes left lifted the host Cougars to a 1-0 win over UNLV in Mountain West women's soccer action on Saturday night. The loss broke the Rebels' four-game shutout streak, sending them to 8-3-2 on the year and 1-1 in the league, while BYU improved to 5-7-3, and 1-0-1 in the MWC.
It was a defensive struggle for the first half of the game, as neither team could put together a successful scoring change. Reinbold, who had a shot hit the crossbar earlier in the second half, came back with 13 minutes remaining in regulation and provided the lone goal of the game when she received a pass across the middle from Natalie Nate. Reinbold took a few dribbles, drew out UNLV goalkeeper Jenna Huff, and took a shot over Huff that found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Erika Woodbury finished with four saves to keep the Rebels out of the net, while Huff finished with three saves. The one goal allowed stopped Huff's streak of 502 minutes without allowing a score.
UNLV returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15, as the Rebels will host New Mexico at 7 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
