SAN JOSE, Calif. - After winning its last two games in the final minutes, UNLV prevailed on an early goal this time as junior forward Rod Dyachenko scored the game-winning to give the Rebels their third straight victory, 1-0 at San Jose State in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer action on Friday night. With the win, UNLV improved to 4-7 on the season, and 3-2 in the conference, while the Spartans fell to 1-9-1, 0-4 in the MPSF.
Dyachenko scored the goal, his third of the year and third game-winner, at the 18:37 mark, as he received a pass from Chris Wessel and slotted a shot to the top right corner of the net. Peter Clitheroe made five saves in goal to for the shutout for UNLV, while SJSU's Daniel Benton finished with two saves and one goal allowed. The Rebels were outshot 13-4 for the game.
UNLV stays in California to meet Sacramento State on Sunday at 1 pm.
