Box Score

LAS VEGAS - UNLV rallied for two second half goals to lift them past Sacramento State 2-1 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer action on Friday night from Peter Johann Memorial Field. With the victory, UNLV moves to 4-9 overall, and even its MPSF record at 4-4, while the Hornets fell to 5-9-1, and 4-5 in league action.

An even game in the first half, neither team could find the back of the net though the Rebels took several shots at Hornet goalie Matt McDougall, who would finish with seven saves for the game. Sacramento State would finally score the first goal of the game at the 65:40 mark, when Eric Ortiz fed a pass to Ryan Rhodes in the box. Rhodes caught the pass on his right foot, bounced the ball up, and as the ball came back down lofted the shot over UNLV goalie Peter Clitheroe for the score.

The Rebels would answer back five minutes later, as they earned their second corner kick of the game, and "Boomer" Arbelaez headed in Brendon Bain's corner for the tying score at 71:01. The winning score came again off a Bain assist, as he fed Rod Dyachenko in the box and he slotted a shot to the left post for the goal, giving UNLV a 2-1 edge. Sacramento State had several chances to tie the game but could not get past Clitheroe again, who posted four saves for the game.

The Rebels finish their home schedule with a Senior Day matchup against San Jose State on Sunday at Noon at Peter Johann Field.
