Another Clean Sweep

Nov. 1, 2004

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second time this season UNLV swept the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards, as sophomore midfielder Heather Killoch was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while junior goalkeeper Jenna Huff picked up the Defender of the Week honor. This is the second weekly honor of the year for Huff and third in her career, while it's the first career honor for Killoch.

Killoch, a native of Wall, N.J., scored the first goal of the game and eventual game-winner in the Rebels' 3-0 shutout over San Diego State on Saturday, which gave UNLV its first-ever conference regular season championship. It was also the second goal of the season for Killoch. Huff, a native of Huntington Beach, Calif., broke her own school record with her eighth shutout of the season while finishing with eight saves to give UNLV the victory.

The Rebels finished the regular season at 12-3-2, and won a school record five conference games to finish at 5-1. As the top seed in this week's MWC Tournament, UNLV receives a first round bye, and will take on the winner of #4 Utah-#5 Wyoming on Thursday at 3:30 pm in the semifinals. This year's tournament is being hosted by BYU in Provo, Utah.
