PROVO, Utah - Utah broke open a scoreless game with two goals in the final 10 minutes to upset top-seeded UNLV 2-0 in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon at BYU's South Stadium. With the loss, the Rebels fall to 12-4-2 on the season, but are hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament when the selections are announced on Monday. Utah improves to 13-5-2, and will meet the winner of Thursday's second semifinal game, #3 San Diego State and #7 Wyoming, on Saturday in the championship contest.

In the first half the Rebels shutdown the Ute offense, holding a 5-1 edge on shots for the opening 45 minutes, but could not find the back of the net themselves. Though Utah began to find more shots in the second half, the game remained scoreless until the 81st minute, when Kiley Jones blasted a shot from outside the box that beat UNLV goalie Jenna Huff to the far left corner for the 1-0 Utah advantage. The game was sealed for the Utes in the 89th minute, when Amanda Feight found herself one-on-one with Huff, and sent a shot to the left side for the second score of the game.

UNLV Head Coach Dan Abdalla was pleased with the Rebels effort in the semifinal game. "Utah is a great team and sometimes it comes down to whatever team keeps the pressure on. I'm just happy that our kids came out and fought and made it a competitive game."

"My first impression is that UNLV is a great team and they improved since we played them a month ago," said Utes' head coach Rich Manning. "One of the great things about soccer is that you can be outplayed a little bit and just kind of hang in there and things can turn."

UNLV finished with a 7-6 advantage on shots, while Huff posted two saves in goal. Utah goalie Ashley Mason tallied four saves in recording the shutout.
