Rebels Hold Position, Finish Second

WAHIAWA, Hawai'i - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 281 but could not improve its position, finishing in second place at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Friday.

The Rebels began the day trailing New Mexico by a single stroke, but finished the day four strokes behind tournament champ Arizona. The Wildcats carded a final-round score of 276 to capture the victory.

Individually, Ryan Moore was the top Rebel, placing fifth. He finished at 10-under par after shooting 71 in his final round.

Travis Whisman joined Moore in the top 10, tying for seventh place at nine-under. He carded a final-round 68 on the par-72, 6,917-yard Leilehua Golf Course.

JC Deacon chipped in a 70 to the team score, and Ryan Keeney and Andres Gonzales fired matching 72s to round out the Rebels' team scoring.

The Rebels return home and will host the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship on March 12-14.
