Moore Finishes Second At Thunderbird

TEMPE, Ariz. - Ryan Moore shot a final round 67 to finish 14-under par and finish second at the Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday.

Moore began the day four strokes out of the lead and only made up two strokes on Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares. Canizares shot 69 at his home course, the par-72, 7,027-yard Karsten Golf Course, to finish at 16-under and claim medalist honors.

Canizares also led the Sun Devils to the tournament title as the hosts broke the tournament record, finishing the 54-hole event at 43-under par.

Moore's efforts led his squad to an eighth-place showing in the 16-team field. The Rebels followed Friday's rounds of 282 and 286 with a four-under par 284, finishing at 12-under.

Two other Rebels broke 70 on the day. Travis Whisman capped a solid tournament with a 69 to finish seven-under par and tie for 14th.

Andres Gonzales also shot 69 in the final round and climbed to 28th place on the leaderboard at three-under par.

Both Ryan Keeney and JC Deacon wrapped up their tournaments with a 79, finishing 79th and 85th respectively.

The Rebels have now completed regular season play. They will head to Sunriver, Ore., to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championship between April 29 and May 1.
