SUNRIVER, Ore. - The No. 15 UNLV men's golf team shot a final round 297 to finish in 11th place at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday.
The Rebels finished the tournament at 25-over par and failed to advance the NCAA Championship. The top 10 teams from the regional earn a berth in the finals. UNLV finished four strokes behind Washington, who claimed the final spot in the field of 30.
Despite missing the cut for nationals, UNLV will be represented by junior Ryan Moore. Moore earned one of the Regional's two individual berths by finishing third overall, just one stroke behind co-medalists Travis Johnson of UCLA and Chris Nallen of Arizona.
Moore shot even par in his final round and finished the tourney at four-under par at the par-72, 7,597-yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort. It marks his fourth consecutive finish of third place or better.
The Rebels were led on the day by junior Travis Whisman. After struggling with rounds of 82 and 80, Whisman turned it on in the final round, shooting a one-under 71.
UNLV also counted a 76 from Ryan Keeney and a 8 from Andres Gonzales. Sam Hunt's 81 was discarded.
Except for Moore, the season ends for the Rebel squad. Moore will advance to the national finals, slated for June 1-4 at Hot Springs, Va.
