Rebels Held To 0-0 Tie

Sept. 26, 2004

Box Score

RENO, Nev. - Looking for a fourth straight win over their in-state rivals, the UNLV Rebels (5-2-2) instead found themselves playing the final 40 minutes shorthanded, and had to settle for a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Nevada, Reno (2-6-1) in women's collegiate soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Mackay Stadium.

The Wolfpack did not threaten much in the beginning of the game, as UNLV goalie Jenna Huff was forced to make only one save in the first 90 minutes of play. But at the 71st minute, Rebel defender Jenny Ruiz received her second yellow card of the game, making it an automatic red card and forcing UNLV to play down one player for the remainder of the match. While the Rebel defense held strong, giving them and Huff their fourth shutout of the season, UNLV could not find the back of the net themselves after the two overtime periods.

Huff finished with six saves in goal while posting her fourth shutout of the season, and 16th of her career. Jennifer Mavis finished with eight saves in goal for UNR.

UNLV returns home for a two-game homestand, beginning with Idaho State on Thursday night at 7 pm at Peter Johann Field, followed by a Sunday match against Arizona State at Noon.
