UNLV To Compete In Tucker Invitational

LAS VEGAS - The sixth-ranked UNLV men's golf team will compete in its second tournament of the week as it travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to play in the William H. Tucker Invitational being held at the University of New Mexico Championship Course (par 72, 7,350 yards) on Oct. 1-2.

UNLV finished ninth in the Ping/Golfweek Preview which wrapped up on Monday in the Baltimore, Md., area.

The Tucker has a field of 19 teams: Air Force, Arizona, BYU, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Texas A&M, UNLV, New Mexico, Baylor, UTEP, UAB, Texas Tech, Colorado, Wichita State and Arkansas.

Arizona State is the defending champion in the event. Last year, UNLV finished sixth as a team and was led by Ryan Moore, who finished 30th.

Competing for the Rebels in this year's event will be Ryan Moore, Travis Whisman, Andres Gonzales, Jarred Texter, Casey Fowles and Troy Denton, who is competing as an individual.

36 holes will be played on Friday, with 18 holes wrapping up the action on Saturday.
