Rebel Softball To Play Alumni Saturday

Las Vegas - The 2005 Rebel softball team will face live competition this Saturday, Jan. 29, when former teammates and UNLV alumni take to the field at Eller Media Stadium for the annual Alumni Game. The game is free to the public and begins at 1:00 p.m.

The 2005 edition of Rebel softball will be led by second-year Head Coach Lonni Alameda and her four seniors: Morgan Bostwick, Amber Campbell, Pauline Glenn and Jacque Kerrigan. Alameda returns eight letterwinners and welcomes 10 newcomers to the softball program.

Making up the 2005 Alumni roster are former Rebels: Kim Anthony, Dena Baker, Julie Crandall, Heather Siegel, Felicia Benjamins, Tricia Reimche, Sheree Corniel, and Geney Orris. Joining the Alumni will be three players that graduated from the program in 2004: Wendy Godwin, Bridget Byrne and Lisa Sampson.

UNLV opens its 2005 season on Friday, Feb. 4, in the Alexis Resort Kickoff Classic at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels will play in back-to-back games against Marshall (3:45 p.m.) and Utah State (6 p.m.). The tournament runs from Feb. 4-6, with the first pitch scheduled for 9 a.m., each day. Rounding out the six-team tournament are Indiana, UTEP and Cal State Northridge.
