LAS VEGAS - For the second straight year, a 3-0 win over San Diego State to end the regular season resulted in a sweep of the weekly conference honors by UNLV, as junior forward Tanya Roberts and senior defender Nickie Olson were named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the conference announced on Monday. The weekly honor is the third in her career for Olson, and the third in the last five weeks, while Roberts was named for the first time in her career.

Roberts, a native of Fremont, Calif., scored twice in the win over the Aztecs, including on the eventual game-winner on a header in the box in the 11th minute. She later added an insurance goal for UNLV in the 78th minute, collecting a pass from Erica Frizzell before blasting it into the left side of the goal for a 3-0 Rebel lead. She is currently tied for first on the team in goals (five), is second in assists (four), and second in points (14).

Olson, a Las Vegas (Centennial) native, helped the Rebels' back four to their fifth conference shutout win of the season. UNLV held San Diego State to just seven shots and just three on goal, with just one coming in the second half. As she's done all season, Olson came up big on the offensive end as well, as she assisted on Roberts' game-winning score. It was her first assist of the season, and she is tied for fourth on the team with seven points (three goals, one assist).

The win over SDSU moved UNLV (10-6-3, 5-2) into the second seed for the MWC Tournament, hosted by the Rebels starting this Wednesday at Peter Johann Memorial Field. Quarterfinal play begins at 11:30 am, and UNLV will play seventh-seeded TCU in their opening contest at 7 pm. The tournament continues through Thursday with the semifinals, with the championship game set for Saturday at 12 pm.
