LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's soccer team will being Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play this weekend as the Rebels take on Denver on Friday at 2 pm, followed by a game in Colorado Springs against Air Force at 10 am on Sunday.
After falling at Cal State Fullerton 2-1 in overtime last week, the Rebels are 2-7 and looking to break a five-game losing streak. The team is being paced this year by Rod Dyachenko and Lamar Neagle, both tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Peter Clitheroe has seen the majority of time in goal, and has a 2.6 GAA with 39 saves in eight games.
Denver is 4-3-1, and are 3-1 at home in 2005. The Pioneers have a balanced offense, with 10 different players all having scored at least once this season. Matt Bredehoft is the goalie for Denver, and has a 1.34 GAA with 23 saves.
After splitting its first four games, Air Force (2-6-1) has struggled on the field, and have lost their last four games, two in overtime. The Falcons have been held to just 10 goals this year, while allowing 20 by their opponents. Scott Muir leads the team with three goals, while Andy Nigro has two. Two goalies have played this year for Air Force, Paul Elsbernd (2.14 GAA, 14 saves) and Brian Guyette (2.14 GAA, 28 saves).
