Box Score

LAS VEGAS - Denver's Scott Davidson scored the lone goal of the game in the 58th minute, giving the Pioneers a 1-0 win over UNLV on the Rebels' Senior Day Sunday afternoon in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer action.

With the loss, UNLV ends the season at 2-16-1, and finished winless in conference play for the first time in school history at 0-9-1. Denver improved to 7-10-1, 3-7 in the MPSF with the victory.

It was a fairly even game in the first half, with UNLV holding a 6-4 edge on shots, but never team threaten seriously in the opening 45 minutes. Denver pushed up the pressure in the second half, and took advantage of a missed clear by the Rebel defense, as a Rebel defender's header instead landed at the feet of Davidson. He then moved to his right before blasting a shot through UNLV goalkeeper Peter Clitheroe into the back left corner of the net for the score at 57:47.

Denver finished with an 11-9 edge on shots. Clitheroe posted five saves in 90 minutes of action for UNLV, while Matt Bredehoft finished with four saves to earn the shutout.
