Dyachenko Named Best Of The MPSF

Nov. 18, 2005

LAS VEGAS - Senior forward Rod Dyachenko of UNLV was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Soccer Player of the Year, the league announced on Friday. The MPSF also announced its all-conference teams, and three Rebels were selected to the teams.

Dyachenko, a native of Vancouver, Wash., finished his career at UNLV last week as one of the top goal scorers in school history. His eight goals this season led the team and gave him 23 for his career, ranking him ninth all-time at UNLV. He also had one assist this year, and finished with 54 career points as a Rebel. Dyachenko scored seven game-winning goals in his four years in Las Vegas, including against top-25 Portland in the beginning of the season. He is the second Rebel to be named MPSF Player of the Year, as Alex Hernandez was named in the 2003 season.

Dyachenko was also named to the MPSF First-Team, his second straight year on the first team and third straight year that he has earned all-conference honors. Also named from UNLV was senior midfielder Deshawn Woolery to the All-MPSF Second Team, while senior defender Jon Dunning was an All-MPSF Honorable Mention selection.
