Final Stats
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - UNLV (9-5) jumped out to an early four-run lead in the first inning on Ohio State (4-3) at the Palm Springs Classic held at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City, Calif. Marissa Nichols got the Rebels off to a good start by smacking a 3-1 pitch over the right field fence for an early 1-0 lead. That was the only run that Jacque Kerrigan (8-4) would need en route to her eighth complete game of the season.
After Nichols led off the first with a homer, Caitlyn Paus and Brittany Freight followed to put runners on base for Shannon Crisp. Crisp hurt the Buckeyes with the Rebels' second home run of the inning. Crisp's shot cleared the left field fence bringing in three more runs.
UNLV tacked on two more runs, one in the second and one more in the seventh.
