Final Stats

Las Vegas -

In game one of Saturday's Alexis Resort Kickoff Classic held at Eller Media Stadium hits were few and runs were scarce as UNLV prevailed in a 1-0 shutout of Indiana. UNLV improves to 2-1 on the year, while Indiana falls to 1-2.

Jacque Kerrigan took a perfect game through 4.1 innings of work. Janetta Deaven broke up the bid with a single through the right side of the infield. Kerrigan gave up three hits in seven innings of work with no walks.

UNLV scored its lone run in the bottom of the third. Morgan Bostwick leadoff the inning with a single back to the pitcher. The ball struck Indiana's starting pitcher, Mariangee Bogado, on the inside of her glove arm, right above the wrist forcing her from the game. Megan Roark replaced Bogado inside the circle. Joanna Jackson pushed Bostwick to second on a sacrifice bunt. With no one covering third base on the play Bostwick took advantage of the opportunity and swiped third base. Marissa Nichols carried over her hitting performance from Friday night (5-for9) going 2-for-3 (two singles) with an RBI-single through the right side scoring Bostwick. Nichols added two stolen bases to her game line, as well.

Next up for the Rebels are two games on Sunday. UNLV will play in game two at 11:15 a.m., against UTEP and in game four to close out the Classic against Cal State Northridge at 3:45 p.m.
