Five Rebs Named To Academic All-District Softball Team

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Five UNLV softball players were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
 
Keyannah Chavez, Natalie Turner, Mantha Hatzenbeller, Bri Williams and Charelle Aki were recognized for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot, which first-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 16.
 
Chavez, a senior sociology major, led the Rebels' offense this season with a .421 batting average, which ranked 69th in the nation and third in the Mountain West. She also led the team in hits (64), doubles (16) and on-base percentage (.521). Her on-base percentage ranked 48th in the nation, second in the conference and tied the single-season program record. She picked up All-Mountain West first team honors and All-West Region third team honors this season. Chavez graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.79.
 
Turner, a graduate student pursuing her master's in intercollegiate & professional sport management, batted a .336 this season for the Rebels which included 50 hits, five doubles, two triples and two home runs. She led the squad in stolen bases going 13-for-15 on the base path. Turner was tied for the team-high in runs scored with 34 through the season. She finished the season with a 3.65 cumulative GPA.
 
Hatzenbeller, a sophomore business major, was the home run leader for the Scarlet & Gray with 12 homers for the season. She additionally led UNLV in slugging percentage with a .745, which ranked tied second in the MW. Hatzenbeller batted a .321 for the season, which included 34 hits, five doubles, two triples and 35 RBI. She earned All-Mountain West second team honors. Hatzenbeller closed out her sophomore year with a 3.86 cumulative GPA.
 
Williams, a senior communication studies major, batted a .317 for the Rebels in her senior campaign. She notched two program records through the season including the season-game RBI record with nine against Quinnipiac on Feb. 13, 2026. Additionally, Williams was hit by a pitch 22 times this season, which marked a single-season record and led the conference. She was third on the squad in on-base percentage with a .474. Williams graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.97.
 
Aki, a junior human services major, was the RBI leader for UNLV through the season with a team-high 42. She batted a .295 which included 43 hits, seven doubles and 11 home runs. Aki was fourth on the squad in slugging percentage with a .568. Aki finished her junior year with a 3.68 cumulative GPA.
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.5 minimum grade point average, have participated in at least 90 percent of the season's events or must start in at least 66 percent of the season's events and have at least a sophomore standing both academically and athletically. Pitchers must have at least 35.0 innings pitched this season or 17 appearances.
