Softball Heads Into MW Championships As No. 2 Seed

UNLV will play either No. 3 UNR or No. 6 Colorado State on Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m. PT

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team is making its second appearance at the Mountain West Softball Championships since the conference reinstated the tournament in 2023. The Scarlet & Gray earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will have a first-round bye and bypass the single elimination round. The Rebels finished the MW regular season with a second-place finish and a 18-7 league record.

SCOUTING UNR: The Wolf Pack head into the league tournament as the no. 3 seed and a 36-18 overall record. UNR closed out the MW season with a 16-9 record. The Wolf Pack are led by Madison Clark's .466 batting average. Clark has tallied a team-high 90 hits and eight triples. Hannah Di Genova is second on the squad with a .423 batting average. However, Di Genova leads the squad in home runs (24) and RBI (78). In the circle, Tess Bumiller leads the UNR pitching staff with a 2.79 ERA to go with a 12-5 record. Bumiller has made 32 appearances and 13 starts. She has pitched three complete games, three shut outs and has two saves through 105.1 innings of work.
 
SCOUTING CSU: Colorado State heads into the MW Softball Championships with a 23-27 overall record and finished the conference season with an 11-14 record. The Rams are the no. 6 seed in the tournament. Madi Enslinger leads the Rams' offense with a .386 batting average. Lauren Stucky is second on the squad with a .351 batting average and leads CSU with 54 hits. Stucky also is tied for the team-high in doubles with 12. Reagan Wick leads the pitching staff with a 3.62 ERA through 32 appearances. She has an 11-12 overall record and has started 21 games. Wick has pitched 13 complete games, four shutouts and has two saves through 141.1 innings pitched.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD: In the regular season three-game series finale, UNLV swept in-state rival UNR in Las Vegas. The Rebels collected a 5-3 victory in game one, a 4-2 win in game two, and closed out the sweep with a 7-4 victory on senior day.
 
MW HONORS:  The Rebels had four players recognized on the MW All-MW postseason awards list, led by freshman Lauren Fettic earning Pitcher of the Year honors. Fettic and senior Keyannah Chavez picked up All-MW first team honors. Senior Diamond Sefe and sophomore Mantha Hatzenbeller garnered second team honors.
Fettic is the first Rebel in nearly two decades to earn the pitcher of the year honor since UNLV alumnae Christine Robinson was named in 2007. She is the first UNLV pitcher under head coach Kristie Fox to earn the nod. Additionally, Fettic is the first freshman MW pitcher of the year since the 2019 season.
 
400 CAREER WINS: Head coach Kristie Fox collected her 400th career win as a head coach on Thursday, April 30 against UNR, when the Rebels defeated the Wolf Pack 5-3 in Las Vegas.
