Final Stats
LAS VEGAS - Trailing throughout most of the game, UNLV (16-10) rallied twice to tie the game in the final two innings for a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over Pacific (12-7) Saturday afternoon at the Eller Media Stadium Classic. Heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Rebels were down by two, but rallied with the bases loaded and two out to score the game-tying and game-winning runs. Amber Campbell's single to centerfield plated the decisive runs.
Jacque Kerrigan (11-9) claimed the victory after re-rentering the game in the top of the seventh. Kerrigan started the game for UNLV, but was removed with two outs in the second. Kerrigan gave up four runs total, two in the second and two in the seventh, on six hits. Shannon Crisp spelled Kerrigan for 4.1 innings of relief. Crisp allowed one run on four hits, while striking out four Tiger batters.
Pacific reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh on three singles that led to two runs. The second and third singles of the inning were shots down the lines, one to right and one to left.
UNLV loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh on Pacific's Alyce Jorgensen (5-4), but two outs followed to lead to drama in the inning. Caitlyn Paus began the frame with a single to left field. Brittany Meade followed with a double to center that pushed Paus to third. Pinch-hitter Britney Hillyer came to the plate and proceeded to drop a single into short centerfield, which scored Paus and moved Meade to third. After a stolen base by Hillyer, Maggie Livreri walked to load the bases.
With the bases loaded, Pacific brought its starter, Natalie King, back into the game. King was able to get Meade out at home on a fielder's choice at-bat by Brittany Freight to record the first out. Danielle Martinez entered the game as a pinch-hitter and struck out for the second out. After taking the count full, Amber Campbell proceeded to hit a duck-snort into shallow right center that brought home the winning runs. Hillyer scored with ease, while Livreri made her slide into home count when the ball home was knocked away from Pacific's catcher, Brandi Gordon.
In the bottom of the sixth, UNLV used back-to-back walks to Crisp and Livreri by King to summon Jorgensen from the bullpen. Freight brought in Hillyer, who was pinch running for Crisp, with a single up the middle to lessen Pacific's lead by one to 3-2. On Freight's single, Livreri moved up to third. With time not being called by Pacific, Livreri caught the Tigers napping and snuck in to tie the game with the second baseman holding the ball, in front of the circle.
Pacific jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two runs in the second, but UNLV got one run back in the fourth after pinch-hitter Pauline Glenn knocked a double to the fence in center to score Livreri from first base. Livreri had reached base on a single to right field. The Tigers got Livreri's run back with a run of their own in the fifth.
