Boomer Moves To Chivas USA

March 28, 2005

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Victor "Boomer" Arbelaez, who was the first Rebel ever drafted by Major League Soccer when he was a third-round selection by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2005 MLS Superdraft in January, was traded last week to Club Deportivo Chivas USA.

Arbelaez, who was the 30th overall pick in the draft, was traded for a fourth-round pick in the 2006 supplemental draft. He joins the CD Chivas USA as they begin their inaugural year in MLS.

A 5-11 midfielder, Arbelaez was a third-team NSCAA All-West Region this past season after starting all 18 games for the Rebels and finished with two goals and one assist. He was also named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation First Team for the second straight season.
