LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior golfer Ryan Moore was named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for March, capturing his second straight monthly award.
Moore placed third (80 participants) at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship (March 11-13) in Las Vegas, firing a five-under 211 (73-67-71) on the par 72, 7,510 yard course. His efforts helped UNLV win the team title by 15 strokes over the University of Georgia.
A week later, Moore won the individual title by one stroke (103 participants) at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Humble, Texas, March 18-20. His 54-hole total of 10-under 206 (70-68-68) on the par 72, 7,352 yard course helped Moore capture his third tournament victory of the season and seventh of his UNLV career. With the win, he became the winningest golfer in UNLV history, surpassing Warren Schutte (1989-93) for most career victories in the program's history at seven. The Rebels placed second, two-strokes behind tournament winner Oklahoma State.
In March, he averaged 69.50 strokes per round, with three of his six rounds in the 60's. Moore has finished in the top six in all six tournaments he has played in this season and has finished in the top three in five of them.
