Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - Just like Wednesday night's game one in Fresno, a pitchers' duel was the main feature in game one of the UNLV (31-15, 7-2 Mountain West Conference) and San Diego State (23-20, 1-8 MWC) contest. A total of three hits were registered in the game with UNLV getting two of them. Jacque Kerrigan (20-13) took a no hitter into the seventh inning, but a double by Allison Smith broke up the no hit bid, but held on to the shutout for her fifth of the year. Marissa Nichols gave the Rebels their only runs of the game with a two-run blast to left field in the 2-0 win.

In the third inning, UNLV recorded its only hits of the game thanks to a two-out single by Amber Campbell followed by Nichols' team-leading 12th home run of the season.

Kerrigan moved into a third place tie with Kim Smith (1990-1993) for most victories in UNLV history, with her 20th win of the season. Kerrigan recorded two strikeouts in the game and walked one Aztec hitter. Kerrigan took a perfect game into the fourth inning, but lost it on her own throwing error allowing Kristen Carranza to reach after attempting to bunt her way on. Carranza moved to second following a sacrifice bunt. Carranza was thrown out attempting to advance to third on a fielder's choice by Meagan Hartung. Kerrigan got the third out to pop up.

SDSU broke up Kerrigan's no hitter with its lone hit of the game in the seventh. Smith wrecked the bid with a smash that sailed over Brittany Freight's head in center.
