UNLV Wraps Up Regular Season In California

April 29, 2005

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field team will compete in the Golden State for the second-consecutive time as the Rebels travel to UC Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational on Saturday.

A week ago the Rebels finished third at the Cal-Nevada Championships in Fresno, Calif., as UNLV athletes combined to win seven events. Christine Spence was named the track athlete of the meet and the Cal-Nevada Association named head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson the coach of the year.

The Rebels are hoping for similar success this weekend.

Field events get underway at UC Irvine beginning at 10 a.m. (PT) with the women's javelin. The steeplechase is the first event scheduled on the track with the women's steeple slated to begin at 10:20 a.m. The final women's event of the day is the men's 4x400 relay, which starts at 5:05 p.m.

This will be the final regular season meet for UNLV before the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships on the campus of Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo., on May 11-14.
