Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - The Rebels swept its third Mountain West Conference series on Friday night. UNLV (39-16, 15-3 Mountain West Conference) struck for three runs against the Rams (29-18, 8-6 MWC) in the first two innings for a 3-1 game two win. With the win, the Rebels swept CSU for the first time since softball has been played in the MWC in 2000. Shannon Crisp (13-2) held the Rams' bats at bay for most of the night, and ended the game with a three-hitter.

JayCee Wood (3-3) took the loss for CSU in her 11th start of the season. Wood pitched a nice game, as she held UNLV to three runs on five hits. She walked none and struck out two.

Caitlyn Paus carried her hot-hitting over from game one, as she crushed her second home run of the night for the first run of the game. Paus came to the plate with one out and took the ball to deep center, clearing both fences for her eighth home run of the season.

In the second, the home run barrage wasn't finished. Following Brittany Freight's double down the right field line to open up the inning, Rosa Ordaz took a pitch the opposite way for her first home run of the season and the first in her career as a Rebel.

Crisp held the Rams hitless through four. She got a little help from her defense with one out in the fourth, Lauren Cusick hit a deep fly to left, but Marissa Nichols made a diving stab towards the left field fence for the second out.

The no-hit bid was broken up when she surrendered back-to-back one-out singles in the fifth. She got out of the inning with a fly out and a pop up to end the scoring threat.

CSU needed until the seventh inning to score its first run of the day. In the top of the final stanza, Jessica Strickland pulled Crisp's offering over the left field fence and just out of the out-stretched glove of Nichols. Crisp got the final hitter to foul out to end the game.
