All-America Teams Announced

June 10, 2005

LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's golfer Ryan Keeney has earned honorable mention for the Division I PING All-America teams that were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday.

The second and third teams along with honorable mention honorees were announced separately of the first team, which was revealed just after the NCAA Championships last weekend. UNLV senior Ryan Moore was selected to the first team.

Keeney, a junior, finished tied for 27th at the NCAA Championships at 10-over par. For the season, he played in 28 rounds and turned in a 72.29 stroke average per round. In the nine tournaments he competed in during the year, he recorded six top-20 finishes, two top 10s and one top five. He scored 13 rounds at par or under par (nine under par) for the season.

UNLV has had at least one player earn All-American honors in each of the last 17 years and this year marks the first since 2000 that UNLV has had two players earn All-American honors. In 2000, Jeremy Anderson made the first team and Michael Kirk made the third team.

As a team, UNLV finished the 2004-05 season ranked fourth in the polls and tied for eighth at the NCAA Championships, marking the ninth time in 15 NCAA Championship appearances that the Rebels made the Elite Eight.
