LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV men's golfers Chad Campbell, Ryan Moore, Mike Ruiz and Adam Scott are part of the field at the 2005 U.S. Open Championship, which begins Thursday at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club at the Village of Pinehurst, N.C.
Campbell played at UNLV from 1994-96 and has won two PGA Tour tournaments since joining the PGA Tour in 2002. His best finish in 2005 is a second-place showing at the Nissan Open.
Moore, who finished his UNLV playing career this spring, made golf history last summer after winning the U.S. Amateur crown, the NCAA Championship, the U.S. Amateur Public Links title, the Western Amateur and the Sahalee Players Championship. He will compete this weekend as an amateur and turn professional after the Open.
Ruiz played at UNLV from 1994-97 and is playing in his first U.S. Open.
Scott played at UNLV from 1998-99 and has won three PGA Tour tournaments since joining the Tour in 2002. He tied for second at the Booz Allen Classic, his best showing of 2005.
Play begins at the 105th U.S. Open on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. EDT with Moore being the first former Rebel to tee off at 7:55 a.m. EDT.
