Freight Carries Home Winning Run For Team Canada

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Brittany Freight helped Team Canada to a 2-0 victory over New Zealand Thursday evening at the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia. With the win Team Canada closed out its portion of round robin play with a 6-1 record. The Red and White advance to the double elimination championship round on Friday at 1 pm against China.

With the score knotted at zero, Freight led off the bottom of the sixth. Freight took first when she was hit by an Ali Arnold pitch. Following a fly out, Rachel Schill singled to left and wound up on second thanks to a fielding error by Melanie Hulme. Freight took third on the error. With the bases loaded and two out, Freight was brought home when Janiva Willis was hit by a pitch.

Team Canada added its second run when Arnold threw a wild pitch allowing Schill to score.
