Box Score

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's Nick Webb scored twice in the first 15 minutes to lead the Beavers past UNLV 3-0 on the first day of action in the OSU Diadora Men's Soccer Classic on Friday afternoon. The loss snapped UNLV's two-game win streak, sending them to 2-3 overall, while the host Beavers improved to 2-2-2.

Webb notched the first goal of the game as he collected a long pass and took a shot from 30 yards out that found the back on the net for a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. Less then 10 minutes later Webb scored again, this time on an assist from Ryan Johnson who headed the ball over to Webb in across the box before he sent a shot past Rebel goalkeeper Peter Clitheroe.

The score remained 2-0 in favor of Oregon State at the end of the first half, despite both teams taking five shots apiece. UNLV actually outshot the Beavers 8-3 in the second 45 minutes, but it was Oregon State that would score again. On an OSU counter attack, Ryan Johnson and Nick Webb were credited with assists on passes to Lucas Engenwall, who's goal in the 71st minute sealed the win for the host team.

Clitheroe finished with three goals allowed and just one save in 76 minutes of play. Brett Hafeman played the final 14 minutes for the Rebels. Packy Deenihan made three saves to earn the shutout for Oregon State.

The Rebels will continue play in the Diadora Classic as they will meet No. 25 Cal State Northridge at 1 pm on Saturday.
