LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's soccer team will play a pair of California teams this weekend, as the Rebels will host UC Riverside on Friday at 7 pm, before going to Los Angeles for a Sunday matchup against the 25th-ranked UCLA Bruins at 1 pm.
The Rebels are 2-4 on the season, after going 0-2 at the OSU Diadora Classic last weekend in Corvallis, Ore. UNLV lost to the host Oregon State Beavers 3-0, a day before OSU tied No. 1 Indiana 2-2 in overtime. In the second game, Cal State Northridge won 5-3 after scoring three times in the second half.
UC Riverside meanwhile comes into Friday's game looking for its first win of 2005, as the Highlanders are 0-5-1 thus far. They have played a tough schedule, with three losses to ranked teams, but UCR is struggling greatly on offense, having scored just one goal all season.
The Bruins will be the third ranked opponent for the Rebels this year, and they are 3-2 through five games, including a 4-0 shutout of then No. 2 Maryland. UCLA is a balanced team, with 10 different players having scored once this year, while goalie Eric Reed has posted three shutouts this season.
